Applications for a complete course should be handed in through the official online application portal of the TU Ilmenau:

Plan about 3 months for the processing of you Master application. Take into account that you will possibly need a visa, which also takes some time to request. 

Application Advice for Master Courses

In the following we present some aspects that are important for a successful application for a master programme. 

Please take into account that even if you cannot prove one or two of the given aspects that this must not be an exclusional criteria for the approval of your application. It is worth trying anyway!

Master of Communication Science:

  • Experience with empirical research methods and media research
  • Knowledge of media science theories
  • Interdisciplinarity
  • Practical experience in the communication sector (e.g. a placement or job)
  • Internationality
  • Proof of language skills: English

Master of Media Economics:

  • Bachelor degree in Media Economics (Bachelor of Science), Business Administration or similar degrees
  • Min. "satisfactory" grade in one or more of the following (or similar) modules: Accounting, Business Finance, Marketing
  • Qualifying practical experience
  • Proof of language skills: German

Master of Industrial Engineering and Management:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Engineering or similar degrees
  • Min. "satisfactory" grade in one or more of the following (or similar) modules: Production Economics, Principles of Machine Engineering or Technical Mechanics, Electrical Engineering or Principles of Electronics
  • Qualifying practical experience
  • Proof of language skills: German

Master of Business Informatics:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Informatics, Business Administration (with focus on Business Informatics), Informatics (with focus on Business Administration) or similar degree
  • Min. "satisfactory" grade in one or more of the following (or similar) modules: Business Informatics, Development/Programming of computer applications /application components with C or C# and C++, Statistics
  • Qualifying practical experience
  • Proof of language skills: German
