Engineering Design
The research and development activities of the Department of Engineering Design aim at:
- product development processes (theory, methodology, course of activities, control)
- related methods and tools (e.g. DfX, CAX)
- appropriate principles of product modelling
Special attention is paid to:
- close co-operation with industrial practice
- creativity in utilising physical, chemical, biological effects to realise technical purposes
- pictorial documentation of design results in sktches, technical drawings and computer models (including the use of audio-visual VR-technology)
- percise determination and optimisation of product properties (including acoustical proporties)
- collaborative work in interdisciplinary teams (maufacturing engineering, electrial engineering, computer science, natural sciences, industrial design, economics, ...)
