The decennial of the flexible audio-visual stereoscopic projection system (FASP) at TU Ilmenau was celebrated on February 7th, 2017, with a commemorative event, sponsored by the “Verein Deutscher Ingenieure” (VDI).

The Media Psychology and Media Design Group was invited by the Competence Center Virtual Reality at TU Ilmenau to present the flagship project “Virtual Reality Public Speaking Training”. Within this project, an immersive virtual training application was developed, including a virtual audience. The training can be used to reduce fear of public speaking. The virtual public speaking training has been developed by the Media Psychology and Media Design Group in cooperation with the Competence Center Virtual Reality.

The VR application is subject of several evaluation studies and publications by the research group. The presentation at the event gave an overview of the development of the current application, covering the user-centered design process, user evaluations, and future developments culminating in an autonomously interacting system.
