Education
Cutting-edge research and innovation are based on the high level of education attained by our qualified new scientists and engineers. This clearly also has a sustainable impact on the regional enterprises.
Consequently, the interdisciplinary approach of the institute is also reflected in our courses of study. In the cross-faculty master’s degree programmes in Micro- and Nanotechnologies and Miniaturised Biotechnology, students from very different undergraduate disciplines can extend their qualifications within the scope of the IMN MacroNano® .
Postgraduate study at IMN MacroNano® was strengthened with the establishment of the graduate research programme ”Optical Microsystems Technology (OMITEC)“ in 2009.
The institute supplements the PhD programme with regular events including scientific colloquia and workshops on soft skills for early career scientists. These activities simultaneously intensify the network among the PhD candidates.
The IMN MacroNano® offers direct supports for early career scientists through the establishment of international groups for early career scientists. (More information on this subject will be available after 2010.)
Solidly anchoring the institute in education has meant that more than 250 diploma projects, more than 40 doctoral theses and 5 habilitations were successfully completed at IMN MacroNano® in the last five years (2005 to 2009). With their first-class education, our graduates were immediately employed in positions of responsibility in industry and research, often in regional companies.
