The programme „Centres for Innovation Competence“  of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF-Programm „Zentren für Innovationskompetenz“, ZIK)  turns outstanding research approaches at universities and research institutions in the East German region into internationally renowned centres, which should also act as a magnet for young scientists. The foundation of the “Centre for Innovation Competence MacroNano®” at our Institute in 2006 enabled us, to establish several Junior Research Groups.

Research on the modification of biosensors to implement them into complex analytical systems using microfluidics. Aims are the development of biochemical assays and of innovative assay platforms by means of non-fluorescence-based measuring principles.
