Chance to have an exciting artist talk with insights behind the scenes

Due to the current special exhibition "Diversity of Reproduction – Porcelain Designers give insights in their working methods", the Porzellanikon in Selb (Germany) offers the opportunity to an artist talk with the famous artist Bärbel Thoelke on 14 May 2017 starting at 2.30 pm.

The artist Bärbel Thoelke looks back on a creative period lasting for more than 50 years of porcelain design. Thoelke worked for many well-known porcelain companies and manufactories (KPM Berlin, Meissen, Augarten and Schwarzburger workshops for porcelain art).

Thanks to her position as a freelance designer in East Germany, she has a special position. The two gallery owners, Reiner Münchow and Andreas Schütte from the Gallery Arcanum have been accompanying the artistic work of Bärbel Thoelke for many years. Together with the artist, they offer an exciting excursion through the exhibition on the occasion of the special tour. In this way, visitors are offered a unique opportunity to get an insight into the production processes and the cooperation with the gallery owners.

The special exhibition shows in three designer generations that the material porcelain specifies certain types of work which are based on a reproduction process and are therefore specific to the porcelain: basic shapes mostly produced by slip casting stimulate further creative work. The exhibition presents six selected designers, whose work embodies the facets of the porcelain design. The artists represented are masters of their subject. Their work emerged in collaboration with or on behalf of famous porcelain manufactories such as Meissen and Vienna, the legendary "Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porcelain art" or even in their own studio.

The entrance fee is 4,50 Euro.

The exhibition "Diversity of Reproduction" is a cooperation with the Gallery Arcanum.
