Teaching

Our Biotechnical Chemistry programme is an interdisciplinary and scientific course of study. It promotes independent scientific work and enables you to conduct research on the latest biological and chemical issues. In addition to a solid basic education in chemistry and biology, you will also be offered courses from the field of bioengineering.

Research

Research in the institute's specialist areas focuses on the one hand on methods for the production of new nanomaterials, in particular carbon nanomaterials and metal nanoparticles, and on the use of microreactors in chemical synthesis, cell cultivation and biological screening. The aim of the research is, on the one hand, to provide nanomaterials with new properties and functions for technology and, on the other hand, to develop environmentally friendly micromethods for investigating the effects of drugs, chemicals and pollutants on cells and tissue. In this way, the newly founded institute aims not only to contribute to scientific and technical progress, but also to control and reduce risks. Micro- and nanotechnological methods play an important role in this.
