Next Monday (15/06/2020) Prof. Timothy Coombs will give a guest-lecture in the course “Managing Strategic Crisis Communication” for students of the master program Media and Communication Science. Invited by Dr. Andreas Schwarz, chair of the Research Group Public Relations and Communication of Technology, the founder of the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) will talk to the students about the application of the theory in the field.

Timothy Coombs is a professor at the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University. With the SCCT, he has developed one of the most important theories of crisis communication research. It is a theory-grounded and empirically tested framework for the choice of crisis response strategies. For his work, Coombs has been multiply awarded, for example with several PRIDE-Awards from the National Communication-Association or the Pathfinder-Award of the Institute for Public Relations.
