Eraj Atiq Khan is a program manager at the Women Media Center (WMC) in Karachi, Pakistan, since 2007. She has done her master in political science and is now working in different research projects for women empowerment in media and crisis occurring in Pakistan. At WMC along with management she also helps training journalists of print and electronic media to do reporting and make news packages and documentaries on key political and social issues. She has conducted interviews for renowned media with political personalities. Mrs Khan has been awarded a scholarship from ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) for an internship of three months at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany, in 2011.

JC Binetti is the founder and director of the Convis Consult & Marketing company in Berlin and Paris. Based on his long lasting experience in consulting and auditing in the administration, industry and service sector on management systems and crisis communication, he developed a web application for crisis communication in cooperation with his team and practitioners: www.crcm.eu (Crisis and Risk Communication Management).

Alexander Böhm worked as freelance journalist for regional newspapers since he was 16 years old. His research interest in crisis communication grew during his bachelor studies at Ilmenau University of Technology. After gaining practical experience in developing crisis communication manuals he wrote his bachelor thesis about the media coverage and related attribution patterns of organizational crises in 2009. Today Alexander Böhm is a master student in Communication Management at the University of Leipzig.

Matthias Duchscherer, President of Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. (bitte mit www.prolightafrica.org verlinken), works on sustainable infrastructure projects in Africa. Key issues of these projects are always capacity-building, education, raising awareness, sensitization and civic participation as well.
In particular development and infrastructure projects in Africa generally contain concealed potential for conflict at different dimension levels, which can be countered by appropriate communication strategies.
Mainly, the use of mobile communication technology, social media and appropriate content are in focus of his research interest.
The former Research Assistant of the Department of Media Studies at Ilmenau University of Technology is actively involved in building a network and cooperation between German and African universities and research institutions.
Matthias Duchscherer is also Major d.R. and deals with the research on management of communication in the sector of security policy and organizational communication of the military, for more than 15 years.

Thomas Hanitzsch is Professor of Communication at the University of Munich, Germany. A former journalist, his teaching and research focuses on global journalism cultures, crisis and war communication, tabloid and celebrity news, as well as comparative methodology. He was the founding Chair of the Journalism Studies Division of the International Communication Association and is the co-editor of the “Handbook of Journalism Studies” (2009) and the “Handbook of Comparative Communication research” (2011). He received his doctoral degree in Communication and Media Studies from the Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany in 2004.

Brigitte Kaltwasser has started her career in 1982 as a journalist of major German newspapers. She has taught crisis communication at German Universities for more than ten years and is a frequently booked speaker at international communication congresses. Brigitte Kaltwasser runs her own PR firm since 1990 in Germany, consulting international companies on crisis issues as well as corporate communication.

Margret Muellers dissertation in the field of political communication focuses on Israeli media and the representations of international statements on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict therein. Her research interests include mechanisms of news reporting in times of crisis as well as influences of political psychology on media representations. Moreover, her work as (media-) coordinator in medical disaster relief missions allows her to gain practical experiences in the field, thereby complementing her scientific research project.

Der Reserveoffizier Sascha Stoltenow verließ im Jahr 2001 nach 12 Jahren Dienstzeit die Bundeswehr. Nach der Ausbildung zum Fallschirmjäger und dem Studium der Geschichts- und Sozialwissenschaften an der Helmut-Schmidt Universität in Hamburg, sammelte er Einsatzerfahrung in Kroatien, Bosnien-Herzegowina und im Kosovo. In den letzten beiden Jahren seiner Dienstzeit baute er für die Truppe für Operative Information den ersten Einsatzkameratrupp auf. Während eines berufsbegleitenden Studiums an der Donau-Universität Krems hat er sich in seiner von Prof. Dr. Martin Löffelholz betreuten Master Thesis intensiv mit dem Kommunikationsmanagement der Bundeswehr und insbesondere den Einsatzmöglichkeiten des Corporate TV beschäftigt.

Im Rahmen eines Promotionsprojekts als externer Doktorand bei Prof. Dr. Ansgar Zerfaß am Institut für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft der Universität Leipzig befasst er sich derzeit mit dem Thema „Kommunikationsmanagement in Unternehmungsnetzwerken.“

Adrian Teetz focuses on crisis communication in multilateral organizations such as associations and political parties. He had to manage a widespread range of challenges in crisis communication when he used to be a news editor in public broadcasting as well as a  spokesperson of the government and in the service industry. He is temporary lecturer at various educational institutions.
