Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

Generally

Both Electrical Engineering and Information Technology represent and promote technical progress that enables most of our daily comforts and needs like Computer | Telephone | Washing machine | Airplane | Cinema | and many more. Although numerous important inventions and developments have already been made, there is much future demand for creative and innovative engineers who will improve and create new things. YOU can become one of them!

Our graduates of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology have excellent career opportunities and work in exciting fields of activities like the Energy sector, Telecommunications, Medical technology, Mechanical and Plant engineering or Micro- and Nanotechnologies.

Bachelor Programme

The Bachelor programme Electrical Engineering and Information Technology starts each winter semester in October and takes 7 semesters. The course addresses all aspects of electricity. On the one hand, it addresses power generation, power transmission and different types of power use. On the other hand, it deals with the acquisition of information, data processing, telecommunication and the required hardware. In the first 4 semesters our students get the most important basics of natural science, engineering and technology. Afterwards they can deepen their knowledge in a special field according to their own interest:

  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies or
  • Electrical Power and Automation Engineering

 

 

Master Programme

The 3-semester Master degree programme Electrical Engineering and Information Technology builds upon the Bachelor program Electrical Engineering and Information Technology or a similar Bachelor degree. It starts every semester. The master programme is based on a modular concept, and students choose an individual technical main subject:

  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies
  • Electrical Engineering Process Technology and Material Technology
  • Electrical Power Engineering
  • Automation and Systems Engineering or
  • General and Theoretical Electrical Engineering

Diploma Programme

The Diploma Programme is a typical German programme that allows students to gain a degree, equivalent to a Master of Science, in just one go. That means the course consists of 10 semesters (5 years).

With regards to contents, the programme has a similar focus like the Bachelor's programme. That means the first semesters will deal with the basics in mathematics, physics as well as electro engineering and materials science. After that students have the opportunity to choose modules according to their interests and needs. They will choose a major and minor subject. This requires a higher degree of disciplin as well as organisational skills, since there won't be a given timetable anymore.

Students will choose a professor as a mentor. This mentor will support the students when choosing their specialisation, offer contacts for internships as well as guiding the personal development of the student.
