Tasks in the project:

  • Production of III-V-free metal oxide window and protective layers by means of physical vapor deposition
  • Material characterization of the deposited metal oxide layers with regard to chemical, structural, optical, electrical and electronic properties
  • Adaptation of the deposition, heat and plasma treatment processes for compatibility with planar and nanowire-structured III-V substrates
  • Material analysis of protective layers after use in PEC stability tests
  • Application of Ni-containing nanostructures on III-V/metal oxide layer stacks as catalysts

Methods:

(reactive) magnetron sputtering, scanning electron microscopy, energy- and wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, ion beam cross-section preparation, X-ray diffraction, UV/Vis spectroscopy, rapid thermal processing X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy
