This laboratory was the first one of the institute. It is located in the Oeconomicum and consists of a direction- and speakers room. Here, complete audio as well as, broadcast productions can be realised. A computer-based multi-track editing system is available.
Meanwhile, the studio has been extended with a video unit. A classical multi machine editing system has been implemented.

Today, mainly basic practical workshops take place in media laboratory 1. Furthermore, it is used for student audio projects.
