18.07.2016 – New publication

on objective stray light measurement in the human eye

The assessment of cataracts and the attended impairment of the vision due to scattered light is conventionally performed subjectively and needs to be objectified in the future. In a recent publication, researchers from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics present a novel technology and method for the objective measurement of scattered light of the human eye, which was developed at the institute. The imaging area of a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor was extended for the first time, enabling the joint measurement of ocular scattered light and optical aberrations. A model study was conducted and the functionality of the method is demonstrated.
