Researchers of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics could present their new software package called FLIM eXplorer (FLIMX) in the well-known online journal „Public Library of Science – PLOS ONE“.
The main application of FLIMX lies in fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy (FLIO), which is a new technique for the in vivo measurement of the time-resolved autofluorescence of the human eye.
Scientists of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science have published a new signal processing method in the renowned online journal of the Public Library of Science - PLOS ONE -.

Scientists of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics recently published in the highly recognized journal „Brain Topography“ the world first non-invasive whole head real-time neuronal source localization using a so far unreached time resolution.
The realization is based on a brain parcellation and the distributed MNE source localization. The high precision of the real-time source localization results were verified in a study.

On October 14th, 2013 the research project MAMUD (Model-based analysis of multimodal data under uncertainties) was symbolically launched at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics. Within this project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education over 5 years, multimodal methods will be investigated in order to enhance the certainty and reliability of medical and technical diagnostic techniques. An essential foundation for the project was the establishment of a juniorprofessorship endowed by regional companies.
Since the official start of the project on July 1st, first aspects are already investigated. During the kick-off meeting, the MAMUD scientists presented their project. In the presence of the representatives of the companies Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, der Imedos Systems UG, der Supracon AG, GMC Systems mbH und des Ingenieurbüros Steffen Knabner, the different fields of the project were introduced and lively discussed.
Further information regarding the project MAMUD can be found here.

The 6th International Summer School 2013 on Biomedical Engineering will take place at the Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas in the municipality of La Lisa in Havana.
The main objective of the International Summer School is to provide in depth education on techniques of recording and analyzing multi-modal data from invasive and non-invasive brain measurements, covering both theoretical foundations and practical applications in research in clinical practice. mehr

Fluorescence lifetime imaging of the human retina is a newly developed technology. It aims to detect reversible changes in the metabolism of the retina before nonreversible pathologic alterations occur. The goal of the symposium „FLIM2010" is to bring together experts on instrumentation, measurements of metabolic parameters in tissue and cells as well as clinical applications in the field of fluorescence lifetime imaging. Authors are kindly invited to submit manuscripts for oral or poster presentations. Subjects of manuscripts are not restricted to the human eye. mehr

The objective of the International Summer School is to provide in depth education on techniques of recording and analysing multi-modal data from non-invasive brain measurements, covering both theoretical foundations and practical applications. It aims at a thorough understanding of the underlying mechanisms and thus will develop a critical view on current applications and possible future developments. The International Summer School provides contact with leading experts in the fields and is expected to facilitate the exchange of ideas on latest developments. By completing a scientific project, the students will obtain more detailed knowledge on the topic, learn about unsolved and controversial issues and improve their abilities in the fields of scientific writing and oral presentation. mehr
