Model based analysis of multimodal data under uncertainties

Please the individually assigned Ilmenau University of Technology standard login for full access to publications.

Project description

Medical and technical diagnostic devices produce growing amounts of data. The combination and joint evaluation of data from different measurement methods (multimodal data) offers additional information for the early detection of various diseases.

With the growing amount of data, the uncertainty in decision processes increases. If these uncertainties are not considered sufficiently, the results of the data analysis can be distorted. This can possibly lead to diagnostic errors.

  • Development of novel analysis methods for multimodal data.
  • Consideration and minimization of occurring uncertainties.
  • Demonstration of the effectivity of the newly developed methods in medical and technical applications.
  • Protection of vision for a self-determined life by more reliable multimodal diagnostics of ocular diseases.

Kick-Off Meeting of the MAMUD project

Kick-Off Meeting des Projekts MAMUD

On October 14th, 2013 the research project MAMUD (Model-based analysis of multimodal data under uncertainties) was symbolically launched at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics. Within this project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education over 5 years, multimodal methods will be investigated in order to enhance the certainty and reliability of medical and technical diagnostic techniques. An essential foundation for the project was the establishment of a juniorprofessorship endowed by regional companies.
Since the official start of the project on July 1st, first aspects are already investigated. During the kick-off meeting, the MAMUD scientists presented their project. In the presence of the representatives of the companies Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, der Imedos Systems UG, der Supracon AG, GMC Systems mbH und des Ingenieurbüros Steffen Knabner, the different fields of the project were introduced and lively discussed.
