Publication Prize 2018 of the TU Ilmenau awarded to Professor Döring and Sandra Pöschl

Teaser: Professor Dr. Nicola Döring and PD Dr. Sandra Pöschl from the Research Group Media Psychology and Media Design were awarded the Publication Prize 2018 of the TU Ilmenau for their publication on gender stereotypes in Selfies, which was published in 2016 in the renowned journal "Computers in Human Behavior" (Journal Impact Factor IF=3.435).

The published content analytical study proves that although selfies offer many degrees of freedom in self-representation, they often convey more gender stereotyping than advertising, which has repeatedly been criticized for its clichéd nature. The article analyzed a sample of Instagram Selfies and systematically compared them with a sample of magazine adverts. According to the scientific literature database Google Scholar, the article has a total of over 40 citations in October 2018.
