President of the Thuringian Parliament visits the Group for Research in Public Relations and Communication of Technology (IfMK)

Ilmenau, 07.11.2017. The President of the Thuringian State Parliament, Christian Carius, visited the Group for Research in Public Relations and Communication of Technology (PRTK) to inform himself about the seminar cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) based in Geneva. Head of the Group for Research and seminar leader Dr. Andreas Schwarz presented the main aspects as well as the concept of the seminar in a keynote speech. Within this winter semester 25 students of Media and Communication Science (Master) separated into five competing "junior agencies” will develop concepts for a social media campaign as a future part of the international initiative "Health Care in Danger" of the ICRC. Andreas Schwarz was supported by two seminar participants, Janina Unselt and Kinza Raheel, who answered the questions of the interested president.

Carius, who is also President of the Thuringian Association of the German Red Cross (DRK) since 2015, emphasized the importance of the initiative and was impressed by the students motivation. He was looking forward to the results, which will be presented in a real pitch to representatives of the ICRC in February. Carius was accompanied by Andreas Bühl, Member of State Parliament as well as Member of the City Council in Ilmenau, who liked the practicality of the seminar.

With the initiative "Health Care in Danger", the ICRC wants to draw the international world society's attention to the growing threat to patients, doctors and nurses in war and crisis areas. For the Group of Research in Public Relations and Communication of Technology, the cooperation is part of the plan to set new trends in Ilmenau's PR education and prepare students for work in an increasingly internationalized communication industry.
