From 31 October to 3 November 2018, the 7th European Communication Conference (ECC) of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) took place in Lugano, titled "Centres and Peripheries: Communication, Research, Translation". More than 1400 scientists from 51 countries participated in the international conference. The IfMK was present this year with three lectures and one poster presentation.

Dr. Liane Rothenberger of the department of Media Studies presented her project "Mobile media usage in times of migration: The media repertoires of Arab refugee children and teens in Germany" at the pre-conference. The project was carried out together with Prof. Jeffrey Wimmer and Ahmed Elmezeny from the University of Augsburg.

Tatjana Faj presented her project "The influence of cultural value orientations on stakeholders' perception and evaluation of organizations crises and crisis communication", while Elisabeth Wagner-Olfermann presented her project "Media's construction of political leadership in transboundary crises".

Both research groups were also able to show first results from the joint research project on crisis communication of transnational non-profit organizations. During the poster session, Dr. Andreas Schwarz and Karoline Oelsner presented the poster "Crisis communication and resilience of international NGOs and IGOs".

The participation was facilitated by funding from the Equality Council of the TU Ilmenau among others.
