- TRIAS is a very powerful tool for network planning and optimization tasks. It provides a flexible working environment which was enhanced using a radio access network tool box provided by the TU Ilmenau. TRIAS is designed to work in different environments and to support the efficient work in research groups connected via Internet. Users can develop own algorithms and share them with other users without loosing the protection of their intellectual property. Three different application areas were described where TRIAS was successfully employed, planning and optimization of radio access networks, evaluation of future radio access network designs and optimization of locations and number of logical network elements. Currently TRIAS is enhanced to solve complex functional design issues of future IP-based RANs. Bibtex
