Cognitive systems are a perspective object for distance learning. Futurologists talk about the massive use of cognitive systems in one or two decades. Remote laboratories are an important element of distance learning systems. Currently, these laboratories are used to study information control systems and require development and improvement to study cognitive systems. A refined structure of the cognitive system is proposed, which includes a knowledge base set up on the following three items: the pyramid of knowledge forms, a knowledge conversion/extraction subsystem, and a subsystem of activity. In this structure, elements that are missing in information control systems are identified and, accordingly, are not studied using existing remote laboratories. First of all, this is the finite automata of targets and scenarios, as well as knowledge in understanding and understanding in wisdom. The functionality of a number of existing elements will need to be expanded. This concerns, for example, automatons of behavior, which must be hybrid automata, combining the means of describing both discrete and continuous behavior. The knowledge obtained by the system being studied is suggested to be described as the values of fuzzy, linguistic, binary and ternary variables. To obtain models of understanding and wisdom based on this knowledge, the use of logical schemes that are processed with the help of inference systems, for example, the PROLOG is suggested.
