In the Quadrocopter project we develop the basics for the application of mobile airborne communication platforms. These mobile platforms are used within the International Graduate School on Mobile Communications of the university.

Homer Conferencing

Homer Conferencing (short: Homer) is a free SIP softphone with advanced audio and video support. The software is available for Windows, Linux and OS X. Homer was developed as tool for video conferences and as streaming platform. The basic functions of Homer are separated into 4 application areas: video conferencing, streaming, recording, screencasting.

Parts of the software were integrated into the "Forwarding on Gates" software FoGSiEm. They can be found as video plugins of FoGSiEm.

The project "Ka-Band Systems for Mobile Satellite Communication" (KASYMOSA) researches novel technologies to apply Ka band satellites in disaster scenarios. The partners Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, TU Ilmenau, DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation and IABG set out to further enhance the technology developed in the MoSaKa project and provide a complete mobile ground terminal. The ICS group will research the necessary resource management algorithms and integrate them into the system parts provided by its partners. The focus of the work is on the management of complex resource structures over variable transmission channels.

The project aims at reducing the sensing latency of a software implementation of a Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) based MAC protocol by integrating a dedicated spectrum sensing engine. The experiment benefits from two cognitive components from the CREW project: the Iris reconfigurable SDR developed at Trinity College Dublin and the IMEC sensing engine.

Goal of the project "Forwarding on Gates" (FoG) is the practical realization of the by the "Integrated Systems group" from the TU Ilemanu developed approach for a Future Internet. The concept ought to replace the present Internet Protocol (IP) and prepare the global data network for the challenges of the upcoming future. The project ist part of the national project "German Lab" (G-Lab). The developed software of the project is available on GitHub as open-source.

Accompanying the lectures "technical computer science", "computer organization", "integrated hard and software systems" as well as "logic design" interactive work sheets were made available as web pages. These pages serve as collection of formulas on one side and interactive designing tools (so called "Living Pictures") supporting the single design steps of digital systems on the other side. With these interactive pages the students can test prepared and newly designed digital circuits. These tests will help students to understand the textbook "Schaltsysteme" (Pearson- Verlag 2003) better as well as improve the knowledge in the above mentioned lectures.

The International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE) is an international non-profit organization with the objective of encouraging the wider development, distribution and application of Online Engineering (OE) technologies and it's influence to the society. The association seeks to foster practices in education and research in universities, higher education institutions and the industry on OE. Moreover the IAOE promotes OE for the improvement of living and working conditions. The networking founded by Tallinn University of Technology and TU Ilmenau as well as the Company Testonica Lab pursues the goal to provide the industry JTAG/Boundary Scan tools and knowledge based on an independent and non-commercial platform, sustainably accelerating the wide adoption of standardized IEEE 1149.x test methods. The centre piece of GOEPEL electronic’s engagement as Sponsor Member is the provision of hardware and respective reference designs. goJTAG is the first university-driven open-source project aiming at providing a full package for a JTAG newcomer including training materials, slides and exercises. The software includes a simulation component that fully illustrates the underlaying concept of JTAG/Boundary Scan. The user can directly step-wise control the test features of IEEE 1149.1 compliant devices and observe a system's reaction in a real time in an on-screen simulation. Using a PicoTAP controller (to be ordered from GOEPEL electronic) , all actions can be applied to a unit under test (UUT) it is connected to. Such a fine-grain illustration of JTAG test principles has not been possible until now.
