Existierende E-Assessment-Systeme, sowohl Alleinstehende (z.B. Questionmark Perception, Respondus) als auch in Lernplattformen (z.B. moodle, ILIAS, Backboard) integrierte Werkzeuge setzen nur einfache Fragetypen (z.B. Multiple-Choice) für die Überprüfung des gelernten Wissens ein. Dies ermöglicht meist nur das Abprüfen von Faktenwissen. Eine selbstständige Bearbeitung komplexer Verständnis-, Anwendungs- und Analyseaufgaben kann damit nicht überprüft werden. Bezogen auf die Bloom’sche Taxonomie bedeutet dies, dass die unteren Stufen durch bestehende Assessment-Systeme und -Werkzeuge abgedeckt werden, wohingegen die oberen 3 (Analyse, Synthese, Evaluation), auch als Kompetenzen höherer Ordnung bezeichnet, ein Problem darstellen.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die konzeptuelle Integration von interaktiven und simulativen Werkzeugen in die Prozesse eines E-Assessment-Systems und deren prototypische Implementierung am Beispiel des am FG Integrierte Kommunikationssysteme entwickelten Online-Laboratoriums RemoteLab sowie des am Fraunhofer IDMT entwickelten E-Assessment-Systems askme!.

Hierzu sind einerseits geeignete Relationen zur Darstellung zu definieren und andererseits geeignete Werkzeuge für eine prototypische Implementierung zu finden und anzuwenden.

Description:
Multimediale Lehr- und Lerninhalte (oder kurz „Lernobjekte“) sind in den unterschiedlichsten Technologien bezüglich Erzeugung, Speichermedium und Distributionsmöglichkeiten in den letzten Jahren entwickelt worden. Es wurden unterschiedliche Autorenwerkzeuge eingesetzt, die die weitere Verwendbarkeit der so erzeugten Lernobjekte wesentlich beeinflussen. Sie werden entweder auf Datenträgern und Servern der Autoren oder komfortabler in Contentmanagement- (CMS) oder Lernmanagement- Systemen (LMS) verwaltet. Um derartige Materialien zu nutzen gibt es gegenwärtig nur die Möglichkeit, in Kontakt mit den Autoren zu treten und individuelle Kooperationen einzugehen. Sollen die Materialien dann zusätzlich noch in einen neuen, eigenen Kontext gestellt werden, so ist der hierfür notwendige Arbeitsaufwand meist höher als ein Neuentwurf.

Zeil des Hauptseminars ist es, exemplarisch wiederverwendbare Lernobjekte zu realisieren, die auf unterschiedlichen Plattformen laufen können.

Description:
Im Zuge der Digitalisierung der Lehre werden verstärkt individuell zugeschnittene Formen der Inhaltsvermittlung angestrebt, die durch digitale Medien Unterstützt werden. Dabei kommt dem Testen des erreichten Kenntnistandes eine wesentliche Rolle zu. An der TU Ilmenau existieren gegenwärtig unterschiedliche Systeme, die hierfür Verwendung finden.
Aufgabe der Projektarbeit ist es, zu recherchieren, ob und wie zwischen diesen Systemen vorhandene Inhalte ausgetauscht werden können. Dabei ist einerseits auf die zur Verfügung gestellten Fragetypen einschließlich Bewertungsmethoden einzugehen und andererseits zu vergleichen, welche Daten- und Medienformate unterstützt werden. Im Ergebnis der Recherche soll an ausgewählten Beispielen die Transformation von Inhalten vorgenommen werden. Dazu ist ein entsprechendes Programm zu implementieren, welches die automatisierte Übertragung von vorhandenen Inhalten zwischen den Systemen ermöglicht.

Creating E-Learning-Resources is often a versatile and expensive process, which makes it important to reuse them as often as possible. Due to the diversity of these objects it is necessary to describe them with metadata in a way, that they can be easily located with specialized search engines. It is also desirable to provide mechanisms to let authors control copyright permissions.
In this thesis the interface and the metadata-standards are analysed, including their capabilities to exchange and acquire secondary properties such as licenses. In the
applicatory part of this thesis a prototype of the presented concept is implemented.

eLearning courses are normally composed of learning objects. The reason for this composition is the necessity to reuse the objects in di erent courses, thus reducing the e ort needed to create them. To faciliate reuse, the learning objects have to be published to learning object repositories and need to be ndable by search engines. A search engine that is limited to textual content won't deliver adequate results because the objects frequently contain multimedia information.
This problem may be alleviated by the employment of metadata, to enable the indexation of the multimedia content for the search engine.
The potentialities of the semantic web are examined in this thesis to further improve the searching. Under this aspect the available standards for metadate and learning object repositories and refaratories are reevaluated. In the applicatory part of this thesis the prototype of a search engine is implemented. The engine operates with the means of the semantic web on the data which had been gathered via OAI-PMH from learning object repostiories.

At the Technical University Ilmenau it is currently analyzed how the "Student Lifecycle" can be supported by information services. Therefore there are numerous sources of information on the main website of the University, but also on the websites of the faculties and subject areas. The information on these sites range from organizational notes to study-related documents and to e-learning offers, but they are essentially accessible only about the relevant sites of the structural units and are not based on individual needs. In addition to those information which are available in the internet there are numerous sources of other information, which also contains relevant material for the students.
The task of this thesis is to develop a conception of an IT-infrastructure which provides information for a portal, based on existing researches of the Ilmenau University of Technology and portal solutions of other universities.
This information is individualized out of existing information sources.

Therefore the required data for the different stages of the "Student Lifecycle" are found first and the different sources of these information are shown afterwards. Based on this acquisition different possibilities for an IT-infrastructure are considered, which are able to provide that heterogeneous data for a personalized portal solution. Pro and cons of different IT-infrastructures are compared and the variants of the sub-ranges are described exemplarily.

As a result of the growing number of users of e-learning courses on the internet and therefore the increasing diversity of learners’ groups, there is a trend of personalizing online courses and shape them to be as adaptive as possible.
It is essential for the learning content to be designed in an adaptive way, so that the learning process can be organized as efficiently as possible and the usability of the e-learning system can be carried out at the highest possible level. To achieve this purpose a metadata-based adaptivity method could be used according to the content’s structure. This method requires an identification of the relevant learner’s and content’s data.
This study deals with an analysis of the metadata-based adaptivity in e-learning and the identification and integration of the metadata, necessary for the adaptation process. It is carried out as an extensive research of the available literature on the subject, combined with an in-depth analysis of standards for learners and content. The metadata model LOM by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE is used for the de-scription of the content and provides foundation for integrating the learners’ and con-tent’s metadata. As a result the standard is upgraded according to the model. The learner’s and content’s metadata as well as the relations between them which refer to the adaptivity play a key role.
The study results in a detailed classification of metadata, relevant to the adaptivity in e-learning. Furthermore a methodology is created to integrate the metadata’s relations into the adaptivity concept. A dimension cube is designed for this purpose, which allows the building of applications for personalized learning content based on learner’s and con-tent’s metadata.

During the research and development of web-based learner adaptive e-learning systems, same learning processes will be tested repeatedly with different learner profiles, in order to evaluate the results of the adaptation on different learners. The tests are usually performed manually. The test effort is remarkable, when a great number of learner profiles are going to be tested.
The aim of this work is to explore an efficient way, which can reduce the test effort for web applications particularly with regard to web-based e-learning environments. The outcome of this work is an automated testing solution for web-based applications and a prototypical web-test system based on this methodology.
First, different methodologies of test preparation and test execution in terms of automated testing were studied. Then a mechanism of creation, reuse and execution of test scripts was designed. The core concept is to generate test scripts by using a keyword-driven and data-driven hybrid strategy. The generated test script will be performed in a web browser directly by a JavaScript based test driver. The test steps will be exactly the same as how they are done manually. Detailed results will be logged automatically in the background.
Furthermore a prototypical web-test system was implemented in accordance with the concept. In the last part of this work, this test system was used to evaluate the functionality of several web applications and thus prove the feasibility of this concept.

E-learning environments complete conventional teaching methodologies by supporting learners with appropriate infrastructures to learn in a self dependent and self determined manner. In a way, they are an integral part of a new learning culture where learners individually take action to expand their knowledge and accept responsibility to meet their learning objectives. Offerings with interactive content are considered to be an ideal type of E-learning environments. Through interaction and immediate feedback such learning environments can take the learners's preferences and capabibilities as well as their progress into consideration to empower them to learn more efficiently and with greater success.

While interactive offerings may offer added value to both, learners and teaching staff, the costs involved in the production of interactive content are significantly higher compared to conventional static content. If interactive content is utilized in formal education, and if it is to which degree, is therefore mainly influenced by financial considerations. Thus, there is a need for viable concepts to develop and maintain interactive resources more efficiently.

This thesis introduces a holistic approach towards a web-based development environment for interactive and reusable learning objects. The core objective of this approach is to create appropriate authoring tools and collaborative workflows to produce, administer and maintain interactive learning resources in a more efficient manner. The proposed solution is based on core concepts of current learning content management systems, yet tries to overcome their limitations by utilizing an alternative, more powerful modelling language to produce interactive content.

The outcome of this thesis is a hybrid solution between a conventional development environment and a modern learning content management system; a solution that combines the unique characteristics of both systems. The proposed solution is a web application built on collaborative workflows that provides all tools necessary to produce and maintain interactive content.

Automated systems for video production have been introduced by various sides in recent years. Previous work in this field has been developed for only one special scenario. This work introduces a modular, automated video production system for live video production, which can be used in different operational environments. Modular design ensures the use of different devices for image recording, sensors and video mixers. Automated video production systems can be arranged individually and different direction rules can be configured in this manner. Hence permanently installed systems as well as mobile systems can be implemented.
This system was successfully used at the 25. Chaos Communication Congress from December the 27th to 30th 2008 in Berlin for the live transmission and recording of 30 lectures.
