Quality of Child Sexual Abuse Media Representations

Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a major societal issue. In order to help solve the abuse problem, the media coverage about CSA must have a certain quality. However, the quality of the media coverage has not yet been adequately researched. Based on the public interest model of Normative Media Theory according to McQuail (2010) and the media quality dimensions according to Jungnickel (2011), a justified code book for quality measurement should be developed in the qualification thesis. It will then be used in the context of a manual quantitative content analysis on a sample of CSA articles drawn by the author.
