Microelectronic and Nanoelectronic Systems

Welcome to the Department of Micro and Nanoelectronic Systems

The research interest of our department lies in the transfer of biological information processing and information storage into electronic systems. For this purpose, neurobiological mechanisms of information acquisition, processing, and storage are reconstructed in such a way that they can be emulated with micro- and nanoelectronic systems. This essentially includes the development of new (memristive) materials and devices for emulating biological information processing, the development of systems that are tailored to the specific needs of these components, and bio-inspired models that enable technical replication of biological systems. In addition, our department has many years of experience in the development and fabrication of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), novel semiconductor devices and circuits.
