Work package 4: Innovative nanowire structures

In this work package, we focus on reducing the amount of materials used, in particular indium and gallium. This is to be achieved through the use of nanowire structures. Nanowires are extremely thin threads made of semiconductor material that have unique properties and are versatile in technology. To produce these structures, we rely on metal organic vapour phase deposition, a process that is well suited for large-scale industrial production. With metal organic vapour phase deposition, we can precisely manufacture both very complex structures along the wire and core-shell nanowire structures. This type of material processing is crucial for using materials more efficiently while improving the technological properties of the applications.
