thoska+ Student ID card / thoska+ employee ID
Students registered at TU Ilmenau receive their student ID card designed as an optical ID card on an ICC thoska+ and use electronically offered services acting in the role of students.
Students who also work for TU Ilmenau under a contract of employment (in general PhD students) receive an additional employee ID card designed as an optical ID card on an ICC thoska+ and use electronically offered services acting as staff members.
The card holder decides with his choice of the used smart card which role he is in and when.

The ICC thoska+ Student ID card covers two optical ID cards and two processors.

The student ID card as an optical ID card contains - apart from the general layout covering the black lettering Studienausweis on a yellow background and the two-colour logo of TU Ilmenau on a white background - the following visible personal data of the student.

Each semester the card holder can update the visible entries Semesterticket and Gültigkeit (validity) at the validation terminals of the university. All other a.m. entries are irreversible.

Student administration
thoska+ Student ID card : Validation / updating
The validation covers the update of the validity print of the student ID card (optical ID card) on the ICC thoska+ and the validity entry in the Desfire Chip of thoska+. The ICC has got a Thermo Read Write Stripe allowing repeated writing and erasing.
ICC validation is only possible at the validation terminals on the campus of the university.
As a convenience, the ASC terminals offer the opportunity of exercising functions of online student and exam administration. The entitlement to use these functions does not depend on the validation status of the ID card and is determined by the stored electronic certificate which is limited in time and is to be found in the cryptoprocessor with appropriate contact materials.
