Preliminary study from CO-HUMANICS project on mediated grandchild-grandparent communication presented

As part of the CO-HUMANICS project (Co-Presence of Humans and Interactive Companions for Seniors), the Group Media Psychology and Media Design is working on the subproject Evaluation. Here, the main focus is on how older people can use conventional and innovative digital media to be better socially integrated.

A preliminary study investigated the mediated grandchild-grandparent communication to date. Similarly, a vignette experiment was conducted to examine how grandchildren view innovative CO-HUMANICS scenarios involving social robots and augmented reality applications with their own grandparents in mind. After successful evaluation in a double-blind peer review process, results of this study are presented at the APA (American Psychological Association) conference "Technology, Mind & Society 2021.
