FG EMPK at the ICA in Denver, Colorado

This year's annual ICA conference took place from June 12-16 in Denver, Colorado. Our team from the EMPK department was represented there with three presentations:

Mira Rochyadi-Reetz presented her paper on “The Process of Frame-Building Regarding Climate Change in Indonesia” in the Global Top Papers Session, which was dedicated to selected best papers from ICA-affiliated journals. Her work was published in Studies on Communication and Media (SCM)—a journal of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK)—and was awarded as the best publication of 2024. She also presented her book chapter, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Jens Wolling, which discusses findings from the Klima-N project, focusing on sustainable communication in higher education institutions. The chapter is part of an edited volume on Strategic Sustainability Communication, scheduled to be published in September 2025.

Christina Schumann and Sophia Schaller presented the results of the EMPK department's evaluation of the Power2Change exhibition (project "Science Communication Energy Transition"). During the subsequent discussion, they received valuable feedback that will be very useful for the upcoming exhibition evaluation in the summer. They also presented findings from the RCCC project on the effect of media use on political (dis)satisfaction. These were also recently published in the journal Mass Communication and Society (https://doi.org/10.1080/15205436.2025.2511616).
