Basic modules

  • Guided tour through the UB incl. a look behind the scenes.
  • Conditions of use: how to use a university library, especially the UB Ilmenau?
  • Library practice: practical exercises for orientation in the reading room, searching and finding literature
  • Library catalogue: what's in it and how do you use it?

Attending the basic modules makes the students fit for the library - they can use the resources and offers of the UB independently in the future.

Additional modules

  • Proper citation: why it is so important and what is at stake
  • Citavi: a literature management program (also) for students
  • Google, Wikipedia & Co.: what to consider when using internet sources
  • RechercheToolbox: useful tools for research
  • Recherche-Starthilfe: independent research in the UB, if necessary a librarian "Joker" is available for support

The choice of one or more additional modules is recommended either directly after the basic modules or at a later point in the school year or in the next school year.

Depending on the size of the group and the time available, these modules can be put together for your seminar subject group. We develop a program for each group that is coordinated with the teachers.

Important: Unfortunately, we are unable to organize seminar subject events in July/August and January/February due to the examination period at the TU.
