FAQ

1. What possibilities do I have, to use the ILMOTION gym for training? The University Sports Centre (USZ) offers individual training for students and members of staff of the TU Ilmenau. There are two options, to choose from: Early Fitness and Standard Fitness. The offers differ in their usage time.

Early Fitness – mondays - fridays 7am – 2 pm, saturdays  9am – 6pm

Standard Fitness – mondays to fridays 7am – 10.30pm, saturdays 9am – 6pm

2. How much does Standard Fitness/Early Fitness cost?

3. Are there fitness coaches in the gym to help me with my training? No, there are no fitness coaches in the gym and the training is completely individual and at your own risk and responsibility.  In the context of our first time user-briefing, we refer to general safety instructions and codes of conduct (see house rules, paragraph 3). In order to get detailed information on training methods and use of fitness equipment, we advise you to take part in a fitness class (see our online sports program). In contrast to the regular classes, the individual use of the gym is not covered by the Unfallkasse Thüringen.
4. How can I register for Standard Fitness/Early Fitness?

For the individual use of the gym, you have to register via the online registration platform at the beginning of each semester.

We will give due notice of the registration dates via our USZ website, social media channels and our notice board in the sports hall.

Please note, that registration is possible for one offer only (either Early or Standard Fitness).

5. How can I pay the fee for the gym usage?

The payment can be made with your loaded thoska card on the payment days in the foyer of the campus sports hall or via bank transfer. Please find all the information (account data, reason for payment) for the bank transfer here!  Receipts of bank transfers are not necessary.

6. I cannot be present on the payment days, what can I do to pay?

If you are prevented for urgent reasons on payment day, you can entrust a friend with the payment. It does not matter with which thoska card the fee is payed. However, it is important your friend states, for whom the payment will be made. Please make sure, that after the payment your thoska card gets activated.

There is also the possibility of paying via bank transfer. Please find all the information (account data, reason for payment) for the bank transfer here! Receipts of bank transfers are not necessary.

Payments must be made until the last official payment day (usually Friday), 1 pm at the latest.

7. How does my thoska card get activated in order to enter the gym? Your thoska card will be activated on the day of payment by the facility manager.
8. I am new here at university and I haven´t got a thoska card yet, how can I pay for the gym use?  

If you haven´t got a thoska card within the context of matriculation, you can pay with the thoska card of another person (e.g. your friends thoska card). However, it is important you let us know who you are going to pay for.

9.  I am injured and cannot use the gym for the rest of the term – can I get a refund of the fee? No, principally fees will not be refunded.
10. I am a successor on the gym user list and the payment days are over, how can I pay?

As a successor you can pay the fee via bank transfer.

Successors can also pay via thoska at the sport point desk in the sports hall. Timings here.

11. I have left my gym clothes in the gym/changing rooms. What happens with my property? Lost property will, if found, be stored by the facility manager and can be collected after arrangement (call 03677/69 882929).
12. How can I use the showers in the changing rooms? The showers can only be used by inserting 50cent coins.
