Health courses of the University

The University Athletic Complex offers during the whole year a wide variety of sport programs. Among others, the following courses are available. All the courses start on 10th October 2017.

Pilates is a full-body workout that uses strengthening, breathing and stretching exercises. In the winter semester 2018/19, a separate course for employees of the TU Ilmenau will be offered.

Nordic Walking

The combination of walking and applying force to the poles with each stride ensures the use of almost all muscles. The whole body is in motion - in a healthy way.

This course is fitness for women only. It takes place once a week and lasts one hour.

The ILMOTION can be used individually and only by employees of the TU Ilmenau.

Targeted training of the small and large muscle groups in circle and stationary trainings builds muscle and burns fat at the same time.

With the help of Crossfit and other interval systems, the body fitness will get increased and the general body feeling will be improved.

Stretch & Relax

The relaxation of body and mind through targeted stretching of the muscles is the ultimate goal of this course. Through various exercises, the body posture and general mobility should be permanently improved and thus contribute to a healthy body.

Back Fit

During this course the whole musculoskeletal system is trained. It is a perfect program for the mobilization and strengthening of the torso muscles.

Regular visits of the sauna have a positive long-term effect on the whole body. Sauna stimulates the metabolism, lifts the mood, soothes irritability, sleep disorders and headaches.

In this course, designed exclusively for employees, the program will focus on varied programs in the gym. The development of perseverance, strength and flexibility are the focus of attention.

Mindful Yoga

This course aims to teach more mindfulness in everyday life through various yoga exercises. Relaxation exercises, physical exercises and breathing exercises, strengthen the ability to be more in the here and now and to reduce stress better. Also, the general overall health condition can be improved.
