The TU Ilmenau is the exclusive technical university in the Free State of Thuringia, Germany and stands for a long tradition in the training of engineers in electrical and mechanical engineering. Today her profile includes technology, natural science, business and media. Five faculties offer the current 6,600 students (19,8 % are international students) a promising interdisciplinary program of 19 Bachelor's and 25 Master's degree courses in engineering, mathematics and natural sciences as well as economic and social sciences.
The university is characterized by an internationally recognized level of education, a high practice reference, a personal support by the professors and mentors as well as student tutors. In Ilmenau students get early involved in research projects, they complete internships in industry and also deal with non-technical scientific disciplines. Interdisciplinary and across faculties cooperation combined with pooling competences focused on major competitive research fields are especially determining for our university.
For the development of a distinctive research profile with specifically identified topics only dealt with at our university, the Academic Senate of Technical University Ilmenau has decided the determination of main research “Micro and nano systems” and “Intelligent systems engineering and IT” with six research clusters.
Longtime scientific co-operation with states in middle and eastern Europe are part of TU Ilmenau’s tradition. They provide the basis for common student, education and research projects – e.g. German Russian Institute at MEI in Moscow and the German-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies (GRIAT) in Kazan. Although with partners worldwide, especially in China and Latin America TU Ilmenau works closely together and established a variety of double degree programs.

UNIVAQ counts presently 23.000 students, 644 teachers-researchers, 504 administrative and technical staff. After the reform the 9 Faculties were transformed in 7 Departments which, besides research, provide Bachelor, Master and PhD Programmes in the areas Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, Humanities, Psychology, Economics, Educational Sciences, Sport Sciences, Biotechnologies. Research is developed in the Departments and in 2 Excellence Centres of Research (CETEMPS, DEWS), 3 interdepartmental Research Centres worldwide known.
UNIVAQ considers the international cooperation fundamental for the full participation in the EHEA and ERA. The policy aiming to become a reference point for a globalised knowledge world for higher education and research allowed the cooperation with Universities from EU and Third Countries. The centralised “International Project Office” supports academic staff in preparing and managing projects and disseminates results and experiences to the University bodies. The office, in cooperation with IRO, implemented several International projects in the fields of education, research and cooperation (LLP,international degrees, EMA2, EMA1, TEMPUS, ESF, Italy-France, EC-Canada, Marie Curie, FPs, Life, Interreg IIIA,B,C, IVC, etc.). The internationalisation gave rise to 6 international degrees, 1 Erasmus Mundus Master degree, 11 Erasmus Mundus Action 2, two as coordinator, (target countries in all continents).
The university currently is managing (as coordinator or partner) several FP7/Horizon projects and agreements with institutions from all over the world. Quality of degree courses in all the all the engineering topics (Energy, building techniques and materials, waste recycling, ...) represents a key part of research and teaching and a fundamental issue of public debate in the phase of the reconstruction of the town of L’Aquila after the earthquake of 2009. UNIVAQ is developing a quality assessment procedure following the ENQA guidelines and standards, and applying the TUNING, EUR-ACE methodologies in projecting the curricula


Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra

The main task of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) as the only educational and scientific institution of its kind in Slovakia is to provide university education in accordance with the Bologna strategy on the basis of scientific knowledge in the area of agriculture and related sciences. As the only agricultural university in Slovakia SUA has an exclusive position within the Slovak universities and nation- wide field of activity. Its mission is to provide and ensure education, research and guidance so that the knowledge necessary for the development of agriculture and related industries and rural development in Slovakia is created, transferred into and interconnected with the international community. Together with the academic places of work SUA is part of public universities network in the Slovak Republic. SUA with its scope and quality of education supports and enforces the cultural level of the country, region and the city. The University and its employees provide the city, the region and the country with a range of services in the form of activities in public offices, in a number of professional bodies and expert groups, in numerous projects of national and international importance. SUA was established in 1952 and currently has about 10 000 students.
In 2010, the SUA in Nitra as the first university in Slovakia received a prestigious ECTS Label awarded by the European Commission for ensuring the implementation of the European Credit Transfer System and the mobility of students. It defended this title again in 2013. At the same time, it added to its awards another one – Diploma Supplement Label which certifies that the Diploma Supplement issued by the SUA meets the demanding European standards. Both titles were awarded until 2016. In 2015, the Accreditation Commission included the SUA in Nitra to the seven best ranked universities in Slovakia.
In 2015, a unique AgroBioTech Research Centre focusing on applied research in the field of agrobiology, biotechnology and technology in agriculture, food and bioenergy was opened. The Centre is equipped with the research infrastructure allowing research activities at international level.


Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University, Iran

SANRU University is located in the northern part of Iran and close to the Caspian Sea in city of Sari, Mazandaran Province. The origin of university can be traced to the "College of Agricultural Engineering" which was established in 1974. This junior college was covering Agricultural Science, Forestry, Range management and Animal Sciences courses. In 1979, after victory of Islamic revolution in Iran, this college played a key role in establishing of the University of Mazandaran. At the end 1998, due to outgrowing of the college, it was authorized by the ministry of science to establish two new faculties, known as: Agricultural Science and Natural Resources. These faculties started their official educational activities in 2000. In 2004, the college was further expanded to four faculties of Crop Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Sciences and Fisheries and Natural Resources and it was renamed to "Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources campus" based on both quantitative and qualitative development.
Today the SANRU is comprised of four faculties and 18 departments as below: Faculty of Agricultural Engineering (4 Departments; Water Engineering, Agricultural Economy, Food Science and Technology and Bio-System Mechanic) Faculty of Crop Science (6 Departments; Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Horticultural Science, Plant Protection, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension and Education) Faculty of Animal Science and Fisheries (2 Departments; Animal Sciences and Fisheries) Faculty of Natural Resources (4 Departments; Rangeland Management, Watershed Management, Wood and Paper Science, Forestry).
Department of Basic Sciences and Department of Islamic Sciences In terms of international collaboration, SANRU University is actively moving forward to establish a joint scientific cooperation between Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University with other universities and research institutes from all around the globe and successfully invited committees and administration boards from several universities to have a formal visit from Sari University and subsequently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University is also a Member of Association of the Caspian Sea State Universities and Considering the multi-climate state of Iran as a unique characteristic which effectively influences the agricultural production section, the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering has committed itself to developing agricultural sciences and promoting of engineering aspects of agriculture along with realistic demands of farmers, specifically at the northern part of Iran. Furthermore, this faculty is benefiting from an exclusive multi-disciplinary research and scientific collaboration with other university faculties to implement emerging new agricultural technologies and environmental issues. Academic staff of this faculty are involved in different agricultural engineering fields such as tillage systems for crop production, soil compaction, physical and mechanical properties of agricultural materials and products, farm machinery design, development and performance evaluation, agricultural machinery systems planning and management, post-harvesting processes and precision farming.
Currently, SANRU University benefiting from more than 130 academic staffs, 2185 undergraduate (B.Sc.), 683 M.Sc. students and 381 Ph.D. students.


Babol Noshirvsni University of Technology, Iran

The Scientific Collaborations and International Affairs of Babol Noshirvani University of Technology has been established in 2009 and started its activity seriously in the same year as an independent directorate under the direct supervision of the chancellor of the university. It provides the required fields for developing internal and external relations and academic cooperation between universities and it has progresses in this trend. To gain the educational goals, at the first place, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (BNUT) has arranged agreements to establish close relationship with overseas universities, under these titles:

  • Undertaking exchange programs for the faculty members and students with outstanding international universities and research centers, for the purpose of education, research, sabbatical studies and joint activities;
  • Promoting the international and scientific letters of understanding between the university and leading international scientific centers and universities;
  • Making provision for the faculty members in order to participate in national and international scientific events and sabbatical studies;
  • Arranging mutual workshops and conferences with its national and international partners;
  • Introducing the scientific and technical aptitudes of the university to educational and research institutions throughout the world

 This office also attempts to build ties with outstanding and talented Iranian professors who are working at foreign academic institutions in order to promote joint scientific activities with their peers within the country. As the 4th ranked technical university in Iran (according to Scimago Institutes Ranking), BNUT has always had the concern of developing new techniques, machines, tools, etc in accordance to the necessities of the community.
The university complex is constructed on 11 hectares of land benefiting 5 schools, namely Mechanical Eng., Electronics & Computer Eng., Civil Eng., Chemical Eng., and Basic Sciences. Four interdisciplinary research centres, namely: Metal Forming, Fuel and Biofuel Cells, Nanotechnology and High Voltage substations.
Mechatronics is the cooperation of mechanics, electronics and computer sciences. Due to the connection of the three areas of expertise, data is gained via sensors. In the working group Agro Mechatronics, we are concerned with potential capabilities of mechatronics in agriculture with the aim of optimizing the consumption rate of resources as well as process efficiency. Therefore, we aim to put our theoretical and practical knowledge into practice as well as the fact that we can easily have access to field studies in Mazandarn province farms to have a great impact in this still new field of study.


Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University, Novocherkassk, Rostov region, Russian Federation

Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) is the first institution of higher education established as Don Polytechnic Institute in the South of Russia more than 100 years ago (in 1907) The University comprises 10 faculties, Graduate School of Management, Institute of International Education, 2 colleges, 17 research laboratories, 4 centers for collective use; and Cross-Sectoral Regional Center of Further Training and Occupational Retraining. The University provides training of highly qualified personnel – training of PhD and Dr.Sc. students in 54 and 21 scientific specialties respectively.
The SRSPU(NPI) is a classical polytechnic university. It is considered as a center of development of international cooperation in the sphere of education in the South of Russia. It effectively cooperates with more than 30 partner institutions from Europe, Asia. University takes parts in many international projects within such programs as Erasmus+, RFFI, DAAD and etc.
The departments “Automation and robotics of agriculture and biosystems engineering” and "Mechatronics and hydro-pneumatic equipment" SRSPU (NPI) has a fairly solid mechatronic school, known throughout the country.
In the direction of mechatronic and automation of agricultural machinery, SRSPU (NPI) has many years of research experience. The staff members, together with scientists from Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and China jointly carried out a lot of scientific research.
In SRSPU(NPI) higher education in the agricultural engineering based on the standard on the standard of bachelor in "Mechatronic and Robotic" (duration - 4 years). Masters training (duration 2 years) is realized in major “Mechatronic and robotic systems”.


Astrakhan State University, Russian Federation

ASU is very active outside Russia. We provide brief language courses, student exchanges, joint research and innovation projects, combined undergraduate courses, international conferences and other events together with our partner universities from Finland, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, France, China, Iran, Egypt, the United States and other countries. The university has over 13 000 students. ASU includes 6 Institutes, 17 faculties, 11 Campus. There are 273 educational programmes and 6 Master’s degree programmes with foreign universities in ASU.
ASU is a pilot platform in Russia for the Harvard University international competitiveness program. We are also members of the Association of Universities of the Caspian States along with other 48 members. Students of the Agrarian Faculty of ASU have the opportunity to engage in research, design and production activities already in the undergraduate and master the specifics of their future profession, not only in theory but also in the specific workplace. The Agrarian Faculty is the only one in Astrakhan, who directs his students to agricultural practices abroad. Since 2004 the Agrarian Faculty cooperates with the Unions LOGO e.V. (Germany) and APOLLO e.V. (Germany), who organize the 6- and 12-month practical training of students at the enterprises of the country.
The Faculty of Physical Engineering offers internships in enterprises in Italy, Germany, France, the United States and Japan as well as preparation of specialties at the end of the 1st and 2nd year of studies (welders, turners, millers, electricians, radio mechanics).
Active participation in the TEMPUS projects allowed ASU to integrate the ECTS (European Credit Transfer And Accumulation System) into the educational process, opening pathways to spread our academic mobility options.


Stavropol State Agrarian University, Russian Federation

Stavropol State Agrarian University is one of the largest agrarian universities in Russia with an 85 years history and is one of the best according to the rating held by Russian Ministry of Education. It is the leading educational, scientific and production cluster in the South of Russia. The university offers more than 100 study programmes at the 9 faculties.
Agronomy Faculty was created in 1941. During this time thousands of professionals have been trained here. There are not only the leaders of all levels of agro-industrial complex and specialists of agricultural enterprises, but also famous scientists among the graduates of the faculty. People want to work in this field, to create new varieties of plants, plant gardens, gather rich crops of grain, vegetables and fruits. Each year the faculty receives more than 200 students. There are more than 1 400 students of internal and distant forms of education. The best students have got government grants. There are 85 teaches: four of them are members of Russian Academy of Agricultural Science, 17 professors, 43 lecturers. 90 percent of the staff are graduates of the Faculty of Agronomy. Agriculture is the main direction of the faculty. Training is conducted according with the modern government standards of university education.
In addition, the department has the second specialties: Land Registry, Municipal Cadastre, Land Management and Cadastre (bachelor and master), Confectionery, Foods of plant origin.
In general there are nowadays 15.5 thousand students, 200 PhD students, 47 departments, 83 innovation laboratories, scientific library, institute of additional professional education (IAPE), 5 dormitories, 2 sport complexes, horse-riding school, 3 plant houses, 2 vivaria at the University. Property of the university includes 119 objects of real estate with total area of 158.3 thousand square meters, 18 land plots with total area of 9609.6 hectares as part of educational and experimental farm, which is equipped with modern agricultural machinery.
The University is a Winner of the EFQM Excellence Award 2016, the holder of the Russian federal grant “Innovative Educational Project”, member of Magna Charta, ICA, AEB, EFQUEL.


South Ural State University (National Research University), Chelyabinsk, Russian Federation

South Ural State University is the center for educational, scientific, cultural and athletic activities in the city Chelyabinsk and the region. Founded in 1943 as Chelyabinsk Mechanical Engineering Institute, the university was reorganized into Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute in 1951, and in 1990 it became the Chelyabinsk State Technical University.Since 1997, the university is known as South Ural State University. In 2010 it was assigned the status as a National Research University. The university is ranked as one of the top 10 among 96 Russian universities according to the rating compiled by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It is also a member of Russian universities’ Alpha League, which is a top part of the rating among all universities of the country.
Today, South Ural State University is comprised of 32 faculties and 142 departments located in Chelyabinsk, in addition to 2 branches in other cities. The structure of the university also includes four secondary vocational education institutions, military education and college preparatory faculties, two special faculties of professional development and skill upgrading for university degree specialists, an Institute of International Education, a Continuing Education Institute and a Open and Distance Education Institute. University together with its branches numbers around 50 000 students (full-time, part-time and evening education combined). Educational process in the university with its branches is supported by over 5000 lecturers and officers, including more than 360 professors, doctors of science, 1200 associate professors, candidates of science, 5 full members of The Russian Academy of Sciences, 9 corresponding members of RAS, 2 academicians and 4 corresponding members of other state academies, and over 170 members of foreign and Russian academies. South Ural State University actively engages in scientific, research and project activities. The following organizations operate on the basis of the university: Radioelectronic and digital systems research institute, Institute of chemical problems of industrial ecology at Russian academy of natural sciences, "FESTO" Urals Automation Center, the R&D manufacturing institute "Engineering and technology for education", Chelyabinsk research center at the Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, 10 Institutional Academic laboratories. Volgograd State Technical University, Russian Federation

Volgograd State Technical University is a Flagship University of Volgograd Region. The University consists of 7 faculties, 3 affiliates, 1 institute, 1 technopark, , 3 representative offices, postgraduate and doctoral training programmes, departments that carry out educational, scientific, research, or creative activity, structural divisions of further vocational education, extra-curricular and pedagogical work, preparatory courses, a scientific and technical library, a publishing office, editorial offices of journals and mass-circulation newspaper, other training, scientific, information analysis units, as well as divisions involved in methodological, financial and economic, production activities. Strategic objective of VSTU in the field of information technology is to develop effectively operating research, educational and management infomedium. This objective is being achieved by the following main activities: creating a modern communication infrastructure of the university; an active introduction of new information technologies into academic activities of the University; improving the efficiency of the University management based on information technologies.
There’s a Ph.D. program with a specialization in “Robots, machatronics and robotic systems”. A number of projects, including those aimed at agricultural engineering robot automation are being realized. Full-scale experimental models, such as walking trucks for sprinkling machine “Kuban”, walking robotic systems “Vosminog” and “Vosminog M”, walking robot “Ortonog” have been designed, built and analysed.
