IMN-Sonderkolloquium: "Determination of the electronic structure of transparent conducting oxides with photoelectron spectroscopy"

Am Donnerstag, dem 24.01.2019, um 14.30 Uhr spricht Dr. Mattia Mulazzi vom Institut für Physik der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Analysis of Functional Surfaces, im Rahmen des IMN-Kolloquiums zum Thema "Determination of the electronic structure of transparent conducting oxides with photoelectron spectroscopy". Die Veranstaltung findet im Feynmanbau, Gustav-Kirchhoff-Straße 7, Raum 114/115, statt.

Zum Vortrag:
Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is one of the most powerful techniques in modern experimental condensed matter physics, since it provides us with important information on the electronic structure of materials. In ARPES experiments a clean surface is illuminated with monochromatic UV light and the (photo)electrons excited out of the solid are measured, the kinetic energy of which is directly relted to the binding energy of the electrons. Dr. Mattia Mulazzi will present the results on the bulk-grown and thin films of beta- and epsilon-Ga2O3, BiVO4 and MgGa2O4 and explain how the ARPES experiments were fundamental to discover new properties, e.g. the surface band-beding and barrier type, determination of the conduction limiting factor, bulk carrier concentration and Debye length, that can be functionalised into new devices.
