IMN-Kolloquium: "Collective effects in semiconductor quantum dotsembedded in optical microcavities"

Am Mittwoch, dem 15.05.2019, um 13.00 Uhr spricht Prof. Dr. Jan Wiersig von der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, FNW/Institut für Physik, im Rahmen des Kolloquiums des Instituts für Mikro- und Nanotechnologien MacroNano® der TU Ilmenau zum Thema "Collective effects in semiconductor quantum dotsembedded in optical microcavities". Die Veranstaltung findet im Feynmanbau, Gustav-Kirchhoff-Straße 7, Raum 114/115, statt.

Zum Vortrag:
One of the major trends in current semiconductor research is towards achievingfull three-dimensional confinement of electrons, holes, and photons to nano-and microsized regions. The confinement allows to control light-matterinteraction to a large extent which is important for fundamental research anddevice applications, such as cavity-quantum electrodynamics, lasers and novellight sources. This talk reviews a microscopic theory for the quantum opticalproperties of semiconductor quantum dots including quantum correlationsbetween electrons, holes, and photons. The theory is applied to experiments oncollective effects such as two-mode laser dynamics and radiatively coupledquantum dots.
