Jens Haueisen (Chairman), Germany

Jens Haueisen received a M.S. and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. From 1996 to 1998 he worked as a Post-Doc and from 1998 to 2005 as the head of the Biomagnetic Center, Friedrich-Schiller-University, Jena, Germany. In 2003 he received the habilitation (professorial thesis). Since 2005 he is Professor of Biomedical Engineering and directs the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics at the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany. He has authored and co-authored more than 150 research articles in peer reviewed scientific journals and serves on two editorial boards. From 2002 to 2004 he served as President and from 2004 to 2006 as Secretary General of the International Advisory Board on Biomagnetism. Since 2005, he is chair of the study program development commission and chair of the examination commission of the Bachelor and Master program “Biomedical Engineering”. He is member of the academic senate of the Technical University Ilmenau and full member of the Saxon Academy of Science.
His research interests include the investigation of active and passive bioelectric and biomagnetic phenomena and medical technology for ophthalmology.

Hartmut Brauer, Germany

Hartmut Brauer was born near Berlin in Germany in 1953. He received M.Sc. (Diploma Engineer) and PhD (Dr.‐Ing.) in electrical engineering from the Ilmenau Institute of Technology in 1975 and 1982, respectively.
Currently he is working as senior lecturer and senior researcher in the Department of Advanced Electromagnetics at the Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. His main research interests include computational electromagnetics, inverse field problems and optimization in electrical engineering, as well as applications to bioelectromagnetics, magnetic fluid dynamics and nondestructive evaluation.
He is member of Magnetics Society of IEEE, International Compumag Society and also member of the International Steering Committee of OIPE since he was the conference secretary of OIPE 2008 which was held 2008 at Ilmenau, Germany.

Pascal Brochet, France

Guillaume Crevecoeur, Belgium

Guillaume Crevecoeur was born near Ghent in Belgium in 1981. He received M. Sc. (physical engineering degree) and the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences from the Ghent University, Belgium, in 2004 and 2009, respectively.
In 2004, he joined the Department of Electrical Energy, Systems and Automation, Ghent University, as a doctoral student. Since 2009, he has been a postdoctoral researcher for the Fund of Scientific Research-Flanders at Ghent University.
His main research interests are numerical methods in (bio-)electromagnetism and more specifically the solution of optimization and inverse problems in electrical engineering. He is member of the International Steering Committee of OIPE since he was the conference secretary of OIPE 2012 which was held 2012 at Ghent, Belgium.

Paolo Di Barba, Italy

Paolo Di Barba was born 1963 in Albenga, Italy. He received his MSc degree in Electronic Engineering in 1988 (University of Pavia) and his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 (Technical University of Łόdź). Paolo Di Barba became assistant professor (1991), associate professor (1998) and full professor (2002) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pavia.
His scientific interests are focused on the analysis and synthesis of electric and magnetic fields, with special emphasis on evolutionary algorithms for inverse problems and optimisation, and on coupled-field inverse problems, characterized by magnetic and thermal domains. The fileds of work include electromagnetic and electromechanical devices. He is author of more than 100 conference and journal papers, co-author of the book Field Models in Electricity and Magnetism (Springer, 2008), and author of the book Multiobjective Shape Design in Electricity and Magnetism (Springer, 2010).
Paolo Di Barba is a member of the steering committees of the Workshop on Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism (OIPE) and of the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Fields in Electrical Engineering (ISEF).

Luc Dupré, Belgium

Luc Dupré was born in 1966. He received the electrical and mechanical engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences from the Ghent University, Belgium, in 1989 and 1995, respectively. In 1989, he joined the Department of Electrical Energy, Systems and Automation, Ghent University, as a research assistant. In 1996, he became a postdoctoral researcher for the Fund of Scientific Research-Flanders and in 1998 for six months a visiting post-doctoral fellow at Istituto Elettrotecnico Nazionale 'Galileo Ferraris', in Torino ('INRIM'). In 2002, he became an associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Ghent University and since 2006 he is full professor at that faculty. His research interests include  numerical methods for low frequency electromagnetism, modeling and characterization of soft magnetic materials, micromagnetism, inverse problems and optimization in (bio)electromagnetism. He is member of the International Steering Committee of OIPE since he was the chairman of OIPE 2012 which was held at Ghent, Belgium.

Alessandro Formisano, Italy

Alessandro Formisano is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Dept. of Industrial and Information Engineering at Seconda Università di Napoli since Nov. 2001. His scientific activity started in 1996, in cooperation with several research groups active in the fields of Electromagnetic Fields and Devices (e.g., D.E.R.-EdF Paris, TU-Graz, TU-Budapest, TU-Ilmenau, TU-Bucharest, Slovak Academy of Science, Grenoble Univ.), and Thermonuclear Controlled Fusion (KIT, ITER Organization, Fusion For Energy, ENEA-EURATOM, EFDA). He is presently in charge of an undergraduate course in Electrical Engineering and a Master Degree level course in Electromagnetic Compatibility. His main scientific interests are Robust design and Tolerance Analysis in Electromagnetic devices; Thermonuclear Plasmas Identifications, Reconstruction and Optimal Design problems related to Magnetic Fields, Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism. He is in the editorial boards of the most relevant international conferences in the field of numerical computation of electromagnetic fields (e.g. CEFC, COMPUMAG, ISTET), and has been serving as a reviewer for many journals (IEEE Trans. On Magn., Compel, Fus. Eng. & Des.).

Laurent Gerbaud, France

Laurent Gerbaud was born in the west of France in 1965. He received his Engineer degree (ENSIEG) and PhD (Dr ‐Ing.) in electrical engineering from the INPG (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble) in 1988 and 1993, respectively.
Currently he is working as Professor in Electrical engineering at Grenoble-INP (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble) and practices his research at the G2Elab (Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory), France. His main research interests deals with methods, methodologies, software tools and frameworks for the design, sizing and simulation of power electronics applications and electrical systems, specifically electrical drives. Specifically, his researches include design approaches, computer aided modeling, time and frequency simulations, and sizing methods by optimization.
He is member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, and also member of the International Steering Committee of OIPE since he was the conference chairman of OIPE 2004 which was held in 2004 at Grenoble, France.

Domenico Lahaye, The Netherlands

Domenico Lahaye was born in Tongeren (Belgium) in 1971. He obtained a master degree in applied mathematics from the Free University of Brussels in 1994, a post- doctoral degree in mathematics in industry from the Technical University of Eindhoven in 1996 and a PhD degree in computer science from the University of Leuven in 2001. He has hold post-doc positions of the Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia and at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam. In 2007 he was appointed as assistant professor in the scientific computing group of the Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics at the Technical University of Delft. D. Lahaye is an expert on efficient solutions methods for large scale linear systems, discretization methods for partial differential equations and solution techniques  for optimization problems having partial differential equations as constraints. He coordinates the collaboration between the scientific computing group and the electrical power systems group, the electrical power processing group and the cement production company Almatis. He is the co-author of the book with R. Idema on computational methods for power system analysis. He was the chairman of the OIPE workshop 2014 held in Delft. His collaboration with Almatis was awarded the faculty prize for most innovative research in 2014.

Iliana Marinova, Bulgaria

Iliana Marinova was born in Bulgaria in 1959. She received M.Sc., Ph.D and D.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1982, 1989 and 2010, respectively.
Currently she is working as professor and head of the Department of Electrical Apparatus at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. Her main research interests include inverse field problems and optimization in electrical engineering and in bioelectromagnetics, magnetic fluid dynamics and nondestructive evaluation.
She is a member of Magnetics Society of IEEE, International Compumag Society and also member of the International Steering Committee of OIPE since she was the conference secretary of OIPE 2010 which was held 2010 at Sofia, Bulgaria.

Raffaele Martone, Italy

Raffaele Martone was born in Napoli, Italy, 1950. He received his degree in Electronic Engineering at the Università di Padova (1973) and became assistant professor (1975), associated professor (1982) and full professor in Electrical Science (1986). He was the head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Calabria (1975), head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Salerno (1982), and since 1994 he is with the Second University of Naples. 1996-2004 he was member of the Governing Council (Senato Aaccademico) and 2006-2014 Vice Chancellor at the Second University of Naples.
Raffaele Martone was chairman of the steering committee of the OIPE Workshop (2004-2010), of the Editorial Board of COMPUMAG Conference (1989-1991), and of the OIPE Conference in Sorrento 2006. He is member of the editorial board of several scientific journals and international conferences.
His teaching includes courses in electrical sciences, circuit theory, optimization methods, and high performance computing. The main research interests focus on applied electromagnetism (numerical computations, inverse problems, optimal design) and fusion technology.

Maurizio Repetto, Italy

Born in Genova, Italy, July 3rd, 1960, Master degree in Electrotechnical Engineering at the Universita’ degli Studi di Genova in 1985, PhD in Electrotechnical Engineering at the same University in 1989. Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Universita’ degli Studi di Genova from June 1990 to October 1992. Associate Professor of Principle of Electrical Engineering at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Torino from November 1992 to October 2000. Since November 2000 full professor of Principle of Electrical Engineering at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Torino. In 2009 and 2011 he has been professor at the Tong-Ji University in Shanghai (PRC). Since 2012 he joined the Energy Department of the Politecnico di Torino.
Since 2007 deputy-head Electrical Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Torino; consultant for judicial system as expert in electrical engineering and consultant for several power utilities in fiscal aspects of electrical energy production. Alessandro Salvini, Italy

Bruno Sareni, France

Bruno Sareni was born in Bron (France) in 1972. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon in 1999. He joined the same year the electrical engineering and automatic control department of the engineering School ENSEEIHT as assistant professor. He obtained the Habilitation degree (HDR) in electrical engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in 2006.  He is currently associate professor at ENSEEIHT School and researcher at the Laboratory on Plasma and Conversion of Energy (LAPLACE). His research interests include integrated optimal design methodologies in electrical engineering using artificial evolution and nature inspired algorithms. He has been working on new architectures and energy management for embedded networks (automotive, railway, aircraft) and sustainable energy production. He has published as author or co-author more than 70 papers in conference proceedings or journals.

Antonio Savini, Italy

Antonio Savini is full professor of electrical engineering at the University of Pavia, Italy since 1986. He is the author or co-author of over 250 scientific works mainly in the field of computer analysis and design of electric and magnetic devices.
In the early 1970s he was among the leaders promoting the application of the finite element method to electricity and magnetism; then he pioneered the exploitation of advanced optimisation techniques for the automated optimal design of electromagnetic devices.
More recently he devoted himself also to work in the field of history of electrical technology, promoting a research Centre in this field at the University of Pavia, leading the construction of the Pavia Museum of Electrical Technology and serving as the Director of the Museum since its opening.

Jan K. Sykulski, United Kingdom

Jan Sykulski is Professor of Applied Electromagnetics at the University of Southampton, UK. His personal research is in development of fundamental methods of computational electromagnetics, power applications of high temperature superconductivity, simulation of coupled field systems and design and optimisation of electromechanical devices. He has published nearly 400 scientific papers and co-authored four books. He is founding Secretary of International Compumag Society, Visiting Professor at universities in Canada, France, Italy, Poland and China, Editor of IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, Editor-in-chief of SMT (IET), Editor-in-chief of COMPEL (Emerald) and member of International Steering Committees of several international conferences. He is Fellow of IEEE (USA), Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IoP), Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), Doctor Honoris Causa of Universite d’Artois, France, and has an honorary title of Professor awarded by the President of Poland.

Slawomir Wiak, Poland

Sławomir Wiak, DSc, PhD, MEng., MIEEE, MICS, is a Dean of Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, Technical University of Lodz, Poland. He is specialized in computer science and electrical engineering (computer-aided design, computer modeling and simulation, data base and expert systems, mechatronics, engineering knowledge). He was invited to give lectures at University of Southampton (Great Britain), National Technical University of Athens (Greece), University of West Bohemia – Plzen, University of Prague, Academy of Sciences, University of d’Artois (France), University of Maribor, University of Pavia, Italy, University of Vigo, Spain.
He is holding a membership in the societies: IEEE, ICS, ICS IEEE, Polish Society of Applied Electromagnetics and membership of International Steering Committees: SMC, COMPUMAG as well, Chairman of ISEF, Editorial Board of CEFC, ICEM, EWOIPE, ACEMP, ELECTROMOTION, ICEMS (China), ICREPQ (Spanish, Portuguese), ICEFHE, Editorial Board of IJEET, ICAISC.

Frederic Wurtz, France

Frederic Wurtz  was born in France in 1970 and took his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1993 at the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble. He obtained his PhD in 1996. He is now researcher at the CNRS since 1998 and works at the G2ELAB (Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory).
His researches regard the design process of electromagnetic devices and the development of methods and tools in this area, especially optimisation, modelling and design tools. During the last years, he developed new approaches for the design of energy management systems, such as cars, planes, smart buildings, and smart-grids.
He has published 40 publications in international reviewed journals, 156 publications at international conferences and he was involved in the direction of 25 PhD works.
In the area of smart-grids he was involved in the European Project “Alp’Energy” dedicated to virtual power plants. 

Ivan Yatchev, Bulgaria

Ivan Yatchev was born in 1958 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, his PhD and DSc degrees from the Technical University of Sofia in 1983, 1988 and 2007, respectively. He has worked as a research associate (1988), assistant professor (1993), associate professor (1996) and full professor (2008). He has been Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering from 2000 to 2007, Head of the Department of Electrical Apparatus from 2008 to 2011 and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering since 2011. He is also President of the Union of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in Bulgaria, President of the Federation of the Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria and editor-in-chief of the scientific journal “Electrotechnica and Electronica”. He is author and co-author of more than 160 publications, including 7 books and manuals for students. His research interests are in the area of numerical methods for field problems (finite element method, boundary integral equation method, coupled problems, electromagnetic fields, thermal fields, dynamic simulation), optimization, computer-aided design, high- and low-voltage electrical apparatus
