The evidence of one of the following qualifications provides applicants with German certificates access to a master program:
Successfully completed first university degree (e.g. Diploma or Bachelor)
Successfully completed degree of a state or state-approved university of cooperative education
Usually the approval takes place on the basis of the formal validation of your application documents (aptitude test) and possibly an oral interview.

Please remember that the bachelor degree with which you want to begin your master studies at TU Ilmenau must be in the same or a closely matching subject as the master program that you want to attend.

If you have the required language skills and the range and content of your bachelor study qualifies you for the desired master program you are admitted to the master program.
If one of the both certificates mentioned above is missing, the conditional admission to the master program with an invitation to the preparatory course for the pre-study (Academic Preparation Course) is carried out, given that all other formal admission criteria are fulfilled. Here you can acquire the necessary linguistic and subject-specific knowledge.
Studying at TU Ilmenau is basically feeless. However, before the beginning of each semester, the semester fee must be paid to ensure your matriculation. At the same time this is your confirmation of continued studies which will indicate that you will continue your studies in the next semester. The semester fee of € 129,88 (+ onetime € 15 for the student ID card Thoska+ at the time of enrollment) is made up of contributions for the student services, the student body and the semester ticket.
