"Jugend forscht" - the contest

"Jugend forscht" is Germany's best-known young talent competition. The goal is to get young people interested in mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology and to find and promote talents. Every year there are more than 100 competitions nationwide. Young people up to the age of 21 can register for the competition. Pupils from grade 4 up to age 14 compete in the junior section "Schüler experimentieren". The 15 to 21 year olds start in the "Jugend forscht" division.

In Thuringia there are six regional competitions and one state competition. The TU Ilmenau and the University Society of the TU Ilmenau e.V. have been sponsoring companies in the "Jugend forscht" competition since 2013 and form the framework for the regional competition of the West Thuringia region. LINDIG Fördertechnik GmbH has supported us since 2016.

West Thuringia includes all schools of the school department West Thuringia - thus in the districts Wartburg-Kreis, Gotha, Ilm-Kreis and the independent city Eisenach. The competition director is Jens König, Deputy Headmaster of the regular school "Wilhelm Hey" Ichtershausen.
