With around 15,000 guests, the fourth edition of the Long Night of Technology has reached a new visitor record on May 28, 2016 in Ilmenau. 18 months of preparation are behind the eight-hour program, which was offered in 250 program points at 25 stations of the six-kilometer mile of technology. Various highlights from research and technology of the faculties, inter-faculty institutes and innovation centers met spectacular shows, light installations, lectures, exhibitions and an extensive cultural program. Well-kknown names illuminated this year's Long Night of Technology such as Ulf Merbold and Christoph Biemann, the popular show of soap bubble artist Tom Noddy, and the "Faust" performance prominently manned by the vice chancellor, District Administrator and Minister of Science. Also fascinating were hands-on events, laser shows and of course the phenomenal final fireworks. "Unbelievable, what is offered here", were always heard exclamations of enthusiasm. The thanks were the applause of the enthusiastic spectators, who went home happily and with much knowledge.
They and the organizers are already looking forward to the 5th edition of the Long Night of Technology Ilmenau, which is scheduled to take place on May 11, 2019. If you want to remember the past highlights again, you can do so on the Glanzlichter website.
