Students acquire the key competences in the field of modern chemistry with the focus on chemical applications in system development and biotechnology in the major Chemical Biotechnology. Chemical Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary science. In the foreground are technical applications that are using biological and chemical principles and that also involve living organism. The goal is to produce chemical compounds, diagnostic methods and the like through the development of new and efficient processes. The procedure of chemical and biochemical reactions is analyzed and used synthetically depending on several external parameters. Using physical examination methods and experimental observations, model concepts are developed that lead to a qualitative and quantitative understanding of substance attributes and processes in organisms.
Career prospects in the life science and nanotechnology sector are excellent in the long run. The demand for specially educated professionals in this field in universities, research institutions and industry will continue to grow in the years ahead.
