Description

The study of Media Technology conveys the technical and methodical skills for the development of digital media systems. In order to be able to actively shape the progress in the knowledge society today and in the future, our graduates require solid knowledge of electrical and information technology as well as computer science, but also interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of media and economics.

The program Media Technology focuses on audio and video technology, signal processing and software development for digital media and media production technologies. This broad knowledge combined with a comprehensive media practical training enables our students to:

  • Develop media technology, media systems and media production processes, 

  • be able to take decisions and to act with regard to the development and application of media products and media technologies,

  • have an holistic approach to involving the media in the social and economic environment.

Successful studies lead to the degree “Bachelor of Sience”, which qualifies for a career as well as for a consecutive master program.

Start of studies

Every beginning is difficult. In order to make the transition from school to university successful, the major focuses on a special program in the first two semesters:

  • a Raspberry Pi practice project

  • the systematic training of study-relevant competencies

  • a course-accompanying coaching in the basic science subjects.

The aim of the coaching is to close educational deficits and to deepen new content during the event. In the Raspberry Pi seminar, students work very close to the profession of media technologist. In small project teams they develop their own media product, learn the relevance of basic subjects such as electrical engineering or computer science and train skills such as self-organization and problem-solving skills in practical application.

Practice during studies

There is no compulsory basic internship. The professional internship during the sixth semester takes 20 weeks and can be completed in companies at home as well as abroad.
