Problem Description:
Modeling the energy consumption of computing applications on a given hardware is a problem of increasing practical impact. With the rise of alternative computing technology (e.g. optical computing, temporal computing, or quantum computing), this relevance is even emphasized to enable a comparison with traditional, transistor-based computing platforms. Naturally the design of such models heavily depends on the workload characteristics of an application domain and its associated software stack. This is the background of this thesis, which aims at creating an energy model specifically tailored to evaluate the efficiency of stream processing computations.
