learning outcomeProfessional competence: The students have knowledge and overview of modern procedures in medical imaging. The students have basic engineering knowledge to understand the imaging procedures presented in theory and practice. They know the functional principles of the methods with their specific areas of application, requirements and possibilities as well as their limitations. The students have subject-related skills for the broad, professional use of special imaging procedures in medicine for use in clinics, industry and research institutions

Methodological competence: The students have basic engineering knowledge to understand the imaging procedures presented in theory and practice. They know the functional principles of the methods with their specific areas of application, requirements and possibilities as well as their limitations. The students recognize the issues that need to be imaged in medical practice, can assign specific imaging procedures to them and interpret the results obtained.

Social skills: Working in a team with colleagues, doctors and scientists, students are able to understand the tasks of imaging procedures in medicine, from planning through implementation to evaluation. The students can solve a problem/question about imaging procedures by working on exercises in a team and know how to appreciate the achievements of their fellow students. The students can develop a strategy/argument to represent the selection of a specific imaging procedure for a specific medical question to others.

Note: This subject is one of the necessary entry requirements for recognition of the BMT course of study for postgraduate qualification as a medical physics expert.
