learning outcomeBy attending the seminar,
students can understand and evaluate the methodology and the findings of
empirical research literature in the field of media use and media
effects research. Students are enabled to apply the theories as well as
the results of these studies for the solution of problems in media and
communication practice and communication science and to use them for the
conception of research projects. Students can plan and develop a research
project in a term paper. Based on the theories learned, they can formulate
hypotheses on social problems and outline their examination.
Thereby
students are aware of the interplay between media and society. They
are able to correctly assess the significance of the connections
identified.

content In the seminars, the fundamental theories and approaches of media use and media effects research are reviewed and discussed. Therefore, students have to read basic scientific texts and empirical studies and summarize and evaluate their content.
