| learning outcome | Students are able to describe the functioning and regulation of the European and US electricity markets and can critically assess them from an energy economics perspective. |
| content | The Energy Economics course deals with the functioning and regulation of electricity markets. The focus is on the German, and to some extent also the European and US electricity markets. The course provides insights into the areas of electricity generation, the wholesale electricity market, the grid and electricity sales. The current status of German and European regulation will be discussed. In addition, the planned decarbonization of the electricity sector with regard to a sustainable and climate-friendly/neutral electricity industry will be discussed. In addition to the theoretical basics (e.g. on the issue of capacity mechanisms), an insight into practical solutions is provided time and again. |
