maximum number of participants
previous knowledge and experienceKnowledge of the Biomedical Engineering (BSc & MSc) program.
learning outcomeProfessional competence: Students are familiar with the latest BME research topics at the BMTI. They are familiar with the technologies, processes and procedures associated with these projects. As a result, they have detailed subject-specific knowledge in the area of the medical technology task that was dealt with in the subject-specific individual research project.
Methodological competence: Students are able to familiarize themselves with a new subject area largely independently, to recognize the complexity of a problem to be solved and to develop their own solution proposals on the basis of the knowledge previously acquired during their studies. They recognize where technological progress is necessary in an area of application and how this can be driven forward from the perspective of a research project.
Social competence: Students are confident in the organizational procedures of a research project and have an understanding of the decision-making processes involved. They are also familiar with non-technical areas (e.g. teamwork, integration, inclusion of social, ethical and administrative aspects in the solution of technological issues, etc.).
Students are able to correctly classify the significance of their own tasks and communicate this in discourse. They are prepared to pass on their experience and answer questions addressed to them.
contentActivities of the specialized BME Individual Research Project typically include:
- familiarization with the problem
- the largely independent development of solutions and a justification for their selection
- comparison of the solution with existing solutions
- realization and testing of the solution
- evaluation and assessment of the results as well as discussion of necessary changes
- Written documentation of the work in the form of an Individual Research Project report
media of instruction and technical requirements for education and examination in case of online participation

What ever is needed.
