| learning outcome | After the lectures students have insight into relevant intercultural communication theories and methods. During the practical classes students gained knowledge and understanding of theoretical approaches to intercultural and transcultural communication: (1) Theories of values orientation, intercultural adaptation and integration; (2) Influence of culture on various levels of communication (interpersonal and mediated); (3) Specifics of verbal and non-verbal communication in different cultures; (4) Impact of intercultural communication on professional and everyday life. Discussions in intercultural groups strengthened the students’ social competencies. They learned about relevant methods in intercultural communication. |
| content | This seminar has a mandatory attendance requirement starting with the first session! The module provides an overview of the theories and findings of intercultural communication research, considering all levels of communication, namely personal perception, interpersonal communication, and mass media communication. |
| media of instruction and technical requirements for education and examination in case of online participation | Relevant documents and materials will be made accessible to students on the E-Learning-Platform moodle. In class, presentations (PPT or other formats) will be used and the use of other media is encouraged (Video, Audio, Posters, etc.). Further information will be communicated in class. |
