signup details for alternative examinations

For Master Media and Communication Studies:
This course is a mandatory exam.
Please enrol in the Moodle room (by October 5, 2025) and attend the first session.
Then register yourself via the exam database.
Registration for the exam takes place between October 27 and November 3, 2025.

For Master International Business Economics and Digital Business:
The number of spots for students attending this course as an elective is limited. The decisive factors are the time of registration in Moodle and attendance at the first session.
Enrollment is done by registering in the Moodle room (by October 5, 2025) and attending the first session. There is no guarantee that you will be given a spot in the course even if you meet the criteria.
Registration for the exam is then done directly by the Examination Office based on a list of participants.
Please note that participation from the second session onwards is equivalent to registration. It is then no longer possible to deregister! Absence and non-performance of the requirements will then be assessed as a fail.

For Erasmus and Double Degree students:
To be eligible for a spot in this course, the class has to be listed in your signed Learning Agreement.

learning outcome

After the lectures students have insight into relevant intercultural communication theories and methods. During the practical classes students gained knowledge and understanding of theoretical approaches to intercultural and transcultural communication: (1) Theories of values orientation, intercultural adaptation and integration; (2) Influence of culture on various levels of communication (interpersonal and mediated); (3) Specifics of verbal and non-verbal communication in different cultures; (4) Impact of intercultural communication on professional and everyday life. Discussions in intercultural groups strengthened the students’ social competencies. They learned about relevant methods in intercultural communication.

This seminar has a mandatory attendance requirement starting with the first session!

The module provides an overview of the theories and findings of intercultural communication research, considering all levels of communication, namely personal perception, interpersonal communication, and mass media communication.

Relevant documents and materials will be made accessible to students on the E-Learning-Platform moodle.

In class, presentations (PPT or other formats) will be used and the use of other media is encouraged (Video, Audio, Posters, etc.).
