Award for scientific excellence: Prof. Haueisen is a new member of acatech

Prof. Jens Haueisen, Head of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMTI) and the Biomedical Engineering Group at TU Ilmenau, has been elected to the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). With the election of Prof. Jens Haueisen, acatech recognizes his special scientific expertise in this field.

Prof. Haueisen will use his expertise on behalf of achatech to advise politicians and society on future technology science and technology policy issues.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Jens Haueisen has headed the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics at TU Ilmenau since 2005. He conducts research in the field of measuring and analyzing bioelectrical and biomagnetic data as well as neuro-ophthalmology. Prof. Haueisen has been President of the International Steering Committee for Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetics since 2010, a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences since 2014 and Chairman of the Board of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering in the VDE since 2019.

Prof. Haueisen will use his expertise on behalf of acatech to advise politicians and society on future issues relating to technology science and technology policy and, together with external experts, to promote the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and the next generation of technology scientists.

At the General Assembly in October 2023, a total of 39 new members from the fields of engineering, natural sciences, medicine, humanities and social sciences were elected to the Academy on the basis of their scientific achievements and reputation.

Prof. Doris Heinrich

Head of the Group for Biotechnical Micro- and Nanosystems in Life Sciences at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Director of the Institute for Bioprocess and Analytical Measurement Technology (iba), an affiliated institute of TU Ilmenau.

Prof. Jean Pierre Bergmann

Head of the Production Technology Group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Prof. Karlheinz Brandenburg

Senior Professor in the Electronic Media Technology Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

Prof. Günter Höhne

Retired Professor of Design Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Prof. Dagmar Hülsenberg

Retired Professor of Glass and Ceramic Technology at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
