German Academy of Science and Engineering admits TU researcher

Prof. Jean Pierre Bergmann, Head of the Production Technology Group at TU Ilmenau has been admitted to the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).

acatech is a science academy for technology and applied sciences whose members advise politicians on issues relating to technology science and technology policy for the future. In addition, the academy supports the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and promotes young scientists in the field of technology.

With the election of Prof. Jean Pierre Bergmann, the German Academy of Science and Engineering honors his scientific work in the field of manufacturing technology. As head of the department of the same name, Prof. Bergmann is an expert in production and joining technology. For acatech, he will now contribute his expertise, among other things, to advising policymakers and society.

acatech has over 500 members from the engineering and natural sciences, medicine, and the humanities and social sciences. The members work on projects with external experts from science and industry. In addition, they are involved in interdisciplinary working groups in which specialist topics in the technical sciences and overarching issues with a technology policy background are discussed. The new 36 scientists were admitted to the Academy on the basis of their scientific achievements and reputation.
