Due to the pandemic, the IHK Südthüringen was unfortunately unable to hold an official ceremony to present the Bildungsfüchse awards at the end of 2021. Therefore, the awards were presented afterwards at the TU Ilmenau in a small ceremony by the president of the university, Prof. Kai-Uwe Sattler, and the head of training, Anja Röper, in compliance with hygiene measures.

An education fox went to the former apprentice of the TU Ilmenau in the training profession industrial mechanic Julia Stobbe. With 93 out of 100 points in her final examination, she was honored as the best in her training profession. This means that the award went to a young woman who has completed training in a profession that is commonly regarded as a male domain. "Julia Stobbe has shown that young women with an interest in technical and scientific professions should have no inhibitions about training in the STEM field and can complete it very successfully," said TU Ilmenau President Prof. Kai-Uwe Stattler during his congratulations. Julia Stobbe has furthermore successfully completed her training of 3.5 years already half a year earlier. In the meantime, she is employed by avateramedical GmbH, whose mechatronics competence center is located at the Ilmenau site.

The second Education Fox for the graduation year 2021 was awarded to Jonas Schneegaß for his outstanding completion of his training as a physics laboratory assistant. He achieved 88 points and is thus also one of the best former trainees in his profession. Since graduating in summer 2021, he has been working as a physics lab technician at the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies at TU Ilmenau and has already decided to pursue further qualifications as part of a gifted program.

For 30 years now, the IHK Südthüringen has honored the best trainees of the respective graduating year. The glass educational foxes, handcrafted by Lauscha glass artists, have been in existence since 1998. On the occasion of the anniversary, the previously green glass foxes shone for the first time in a modern cyan blue. The award is given to apprentices who complete their final exams with 87 points or more.

The fact that apprentices at TU Ilmenau are among the award winners in almost every graduation year is testimony not least to the excellent training provided by the university from the first to the last day of training. The range of attractive support offers is large and ranges, among other things, from Welcome Days for an easier entry into vocational training and excellent supervision by experienced employees to secured continued employment for at least six months after graduation and exciting opportunities for further qualification or study at the TU Ilmenau.

Those interested in an apprenticeship at TU Ilmenau can apply each fall for the start of training in the fall of the following year. For more information, please visit: https://www.tu-ilmenau.de/universitaet/karriere/berufsausbildung/
