Graduates of TU Ilmenau find employment very quickly. This is proven by the feedback on the graduate surveys regularly conducted by the university.
The university surveys its graduates when they complete their studies and then again two to three years after graduation. This showed that many students already have an employment contract in their pocket when they complete their studies.
In the survey of Master's graduates at the end of their studies in 2019/20, approximately half of the respondents stated that they had already signed an employment contract. Of these, 46% have stayed in Thuringia, 17% have gone to Bavaria and 10% each to Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. 94% have entered a professional field that corresponds to their course of study. 23% had not yet applied for a job.
The current survey of graduates from the 2017/2018 graduating class after three years showed a high employment rate, with 92% of participants entering employment immediately after completing their Master's degree and 4% pursuing a doctorate. At the time of the survey, 75% were working in a professional field that corresponded to their degree program and 18% were working in Thuringia, 34% in Bavaria, 15% in Baden-Württemberg.
